This pattern is available from infinitetwist.com for $5.00.

Inspired by patchwork quilting, this cozy diamond-motif blanket makes your scrap yarn shine.

The knitting directions are easy to memorize, almost any yarn weight can be included, and the yarn requirements for each square are so scant that this project will fit in even a sandwich-size bag. There is simply no better on-the-go knitting. If you knit a square every time you find yourself with a few spare minutes, you’ll have a blanket in no time.

This pattern includes layouts in six sizes ranging from crib to king size for you to color in, plus tutorials for assembling your squares with single crochet, weaving in your ends efficiently, Cate’s Clasp Weft Join, and detailed making up instructions to ensure you end up with a blanket you can be proud of for years to come.

About this pattern
Skill Level: Beginner.

Skills Needed: Cast on, knit, kfb (knit front and back), and k2tog (knit 2 together). Single crochet is used to assemble the blanket. A detailed assembly tutorial is included, and previous single crochet experience is not required.

Finished Size: Shown in Lap size, 48 inches / 120 cm square. Each square is 6 inches / 15 cm, and each block of four squares measures 12 inches / 30 cm.

Yarn: 50 y / 46 m of sport weight yarn, held double, in main / background color (MC) and equivalent amount in contrast color (CC), 100 yards / 92 m total per square.

Natural and SuperWash wools will work best for this project. To make blanket as shown, you’ll need 3200 y / 2925 m of scraps in red, blue, and purple plus an equivalent amount in various shades of grey.

Weights other than sport weight will work for this project, and can be combined in the following pairs: heavy worsted + lace weight, worsted + fingering, DK + sock yarn, or sport weight held double. Bulky or Aran or weight can be used held alone.

Notions: yarn needle. Optional: colored pens or pencils
matching your yarn colors, sewing pins.
