Knitting Club Hats
This pattern is
available for free.
This garter stitch hat is knit sideways, in wedges. I wrote it for my knitting club, who are new knitters who only know how to knit, not purl. The pattern includes all sizes from tiny preemie (2-3 lb) to an adult hat knit with bulky yarn.
The baby and preemie hats are knit with astra weight or sports weight wool, at a gauge of about 6 sts to the inch. The adult hats are knit at about 5 or 4 sts to the inch with heavier worsted weight or chunky weight yarn.
Garter stitch stretches slightly, so knit the hat to fit, or about 1” smaller than the wanted size, or it will be a bit on the loose side.
