knitting in Weaving style
by Mayan Ward
This is a tutorial for knitting in the weaving style.
The simple use for this style is knitting plaids, the advanced is knitting 2 pictures together. That permits transparencies and light effects.
Examples in my ravelry projects are: Mehera & Meher, Seagull, The birdbath, White Cross. Examples for partial use are the reflections in the Big Boathouse, Squiggles and some of the ‘Walk in the woods’ pictures.
Skill level: advanced. Need to be practiced in reading charts and color-work. However, if you are a beginner and you really want to do this technique, I am sure you can do it.
The tutorial includes:
- Plaids mini chart
- How to knit a Cathedral piece
- Chart for the beach practice piece (45 sts)
- And 3 bonus graph papers to help you make your own charts: one symmetric, one of 15 sts x 20 rows (which is 3x4) and one 16 sts x 20 rows (4x5).
This technique makes gorgeous garments/fabrics, with rich colors.
