All supplemental materials and PDF pattern are available on my website. This includes my pattern “Three Knitted Paraboloids” with instructions on how to make three different sized paraboloids and requiring no math

Pattern Notes
This pattern details instructions on how to make a mathematically accurate paraboloid of any size or gauge. Some background information on paraboloids and written instructions are provided. In addition, there are Excel documents that detail my calculations for the example as well as a template to help you with your own calculations.

Size Information
Any size! Recommendations on how to choose your size paraboloid can be found in the pattern.

Gauge Information
Gauge is calculated by knitting a swatch using 1x1 rib (kp repeat). There is more gauge information is in my pattern on page 3.

Materials Needed
Depending on the size of the paraboloid you will need a different amount of yards of yarn. If you would like an estimate on the yards needed for specific cones, take a look at my pattern “Three Knitted Paraboloids”.

Additionally, you will need knowledge on how to use Excel spreadsheets as these calculations are too long to complete by hand. I have provided instructions in the pattern and an Excel template to help you complete the necessary calculations.

Other materials are outlined in the pattern on page 2.

This pattern is a result of a collegiate senior capstone project which tied mathematics to creating knitted geometrical shapes.
