Knitting sisters
I was inspired by my “Winter Village” when working this pair of knitted (and knitting) sisters
I wanted to make some ornaments based upon my Norwegian heritage, as well as a dedication to my two knitting sisters:))
Until the holidays you can download the pattern for free. The Winter Village pattern is sold at a reduced price until Christmas.
The knitted sisters are worked top down and in the round. You come a long way with some scrap wool, and gauge is not important unless you want to make the ornaments to exact measurements.
Yarn I used Jamieson’s of Shetlands “Spindrift” in the following colors: natural white (shade 104) / light beige (shade 105), red (shade 587), blue (shade 685), yellow (shade 230), dark brown (shade 102).
Needles You will need dpns or a circular needle (if working the magic loop) size 2.5mm/US. The needle size is a suggestion only, choose needles to obtain gauge.
Filling material I used some soft fiber filling for the stuffing of the ornaments.
Construction The dolls are made top-down and in-the-round. After blocking you stuff the ornaments, and seam the bottom of the dress together from RS. Embroidery could be worked before or after the stuffing.
The pattern The pattern gives full instructions for each knitting row. The stranded pattern is worked following a chart. For the embroidery you need to follow the photographs.
These knitted sisters are real fun to make! I wish you all happy knitting and happy holidays:)
