This Gritty doll is knit in the round, with a sweater that is knit flat and seamed together.

The body is knit in worsted weight yarn on size 6 circular needles (gauge: 22 sts and 28 rows in 4”).

The sweater is knit in DK weight yarn on size 1 needles (gauge: 32 sts and 40 rows in 4”). Intarsia, stranded knitting, and duplicate stitching are used for the colorwork.

The hair and beard are made with fingering weight yarn and a tapestry needle.

Additional materials include buttons for the eyes, small amounts of worsted weight yarn for the tongue and belly button, and poly-fil for stuffing. Size 7 needles are used to create the belly button.

I used stash yarn to knit Gritty, so I don’t have exact measurements to share. You definitely won’t need more than one skein of any of the yarns though. I listed the specific yarns I used, but feel free to substitute with other yarns of the appropriate weight/color.

Please note this is my first pattern, and it has not been tested by anyone but me. I welcome any questions or feedback.

*** Please do not sell this pattern. It’s intended to be free and just for fun. Gritty belongs to the Philadelphia Flyers organization.
