This pattern is intended for Intermediate to Experienced knitters.

This relaxed fit slouch hat is a knock-off of a commercially sold hat. It features a leaf pattern across the front of the hat body and horizontal welts around the back of the hat. Short rows of ribbed twists create a brim which is long in the front and short in the back, to help keep the hat in place. It’s finished with an optional pom pom at the crown.

A number of different techniques are incorporated into the pattern, but none are terribly difficult, and all are explained in the pattern.

SIZE
One size fits heads 21-24’’
Hat body is identical for all sizes. Hat brim can be worked in a range of needle sizes, depending on head size and fit preferences.

Cream hat: model has 22’’ head; hat knit with Clara Yarns Cormo 3.0; brim knit with US #10.5 / 6.5 mm needle.

Fuchsia hat: model has 21 ½’’ head; hat knit with (discontinued) Cascade 109; entire hat knit with US #11 / 8.0 mm needle

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Front brim is 2.5’’ long. Back brim is .5’’ long. Hat body is 8’’ long. Total length in front is 10.5’’.

1 set US #11/ 8.0 mm dpns

Select needle size for brim based on head size and fit preference

For snuggest brim (snug fit for head sizes 21-22’’; likely too tight for 23-24’’ heads)
1 16’’ US #10.5 / 6.5 mm circular needle

For medium snug brim (likely to work for all head sizes, but fit preferences vary)
1 16’’ US #10.75 / 7.0 mm circular needle

For medium loose brim (will work for all head sizes, but fit preferences vary)
