Knot Your Average Shrug
August 2015: The pink shrug (last three pictures) was knitted up in a lighter yarn. About 2 1/3 skeins of Lana Grossa Aria on US# 10.5 needles in a simple k1, p1 ribbing. Cast on 50 stitches.
This pattern is easily knitted up and comes in three sizes (small, medium and large). Three skeins of Mirasol Ushya or 296-324 yards of any other bulky weight yarn are enough for any of these sizes.
The knitting itself is very simple and is perfect knitting while watching TV and relaxing. You will be creating a long rectangular piece. The special effect will be created when you seam the piece together in a very unique way. The pattern will take you through this procedure step by step with written instructions and photos.
The finished garment is very versatile. It can be worn as a shrug, shoulder cozy or vest. You can look dressed up in it wearing it over a nice strapless gown or you can wear it with jeans for a more casual look.
The yarn I used is extra soft and has a good drape, but you can use any other bulky weight yarn. You may even want to knit this up in a different weight yarn adding stitches to get the right width and knitting extra pattern repeats.
I am sure this may become one of your favorite garments.
