These funky wee knitted covers have a knitted lining for added padding. Their size and ability to stretch means that they can accommodate armoured covers, as well as your phone, tablet or e-reader.

The main body of each cover is knitted in the round, using either a circular knitting needle or a set of double-pointed knitting needles. Because of this, there is no seam and only knit stitches are required.
The main body of each cover and its lining are knitted in one piece. There are some long floats of colour in the pattern, but the wool that is not in use does not need to be caught or trapped every few stitches as the lining of the cover will enclose all of these. Each cover is finished with crocheted Scottish Thistle tassels (or a crocheted Scottish thistle button in the case of the Aye-Pad cover). A tassel, pom pom or button may be substituted, should you prefer.

Some experience of fair isle or stranded colour work is needed for this pattern.

Materials:

4ply Shetland wool or equivalent

Actual amounts used are listed below for Aye-Phone, E-Reader and Aye-Pad covers respectively. Please use this as a rough guide only, given that different brands may differ slightly. The yardage of the wool used was 215m/236yds per 50g.

Knitting Needles:

One set of 4 double-pointed knitting needles, size 3.25mm (US 3). Alternatively, you may use a 30cm circular needle for the E-Reader and Aye-Pad, if preferred.

A 3.0mm crochet hook is used for the thistle tassel/button.

Measurements (Unstretched):

Aye-Phone cover – 16cm x 8cm
E-Reader cover - 18cm x 15cm
Aye-Pad cover - 25cm x 18cm

Tension:

Approximately 28 stitches and 34 rows to 10cm.

It is a good idea to check your tension and adjust your needle sizes accordingly, before knitting your cover.

Although sized to fit most mobile phones, e-readers and tablets, these wee padded storage bags could be put to a wide variety of other uses.
