This cute bonnet features a simple knotted openwork pattern leading up to a star formation on the crown.

Construction
The bonnet is cast on with garter edging before working the body of the bonnet flat. Crown decreases can be worked either in the round or flat and then seamed.

I-cord ties are worked as either an applied i-cord edge on the underside of the bonnet or attached at each front corner.

To fit head sizes of
Premature: 30 - 35cm / 11.75 - 13.75”
0-3 months: 35 - 37cm / 13.75 - 14.5”
3-12 months: 37 - 40cm / 14.5 - 15.75”
1-2 years: 40 - 45cm / 15.75 - 17.75”
2-4 years: 45 - 50cm / 17.75 - 20”

Yarn requirements
35, 45, 50 {55, 65} grams or 75, 95, 105 {110, 140} meters of any 8ply / DK weight yarn that you can achieve gauge with.

Gauge
Knit flat in the knotted openwork pattern with larger needles, 22 stitches by 30 rows over 10cm / 4 inches.

Needles and notions
• 3.5mm / US 4, needles for the brim
• 4mm / US 6, needles for the main bonnet
• For the crown worked in the round: 4mm / US 6, needles in your preferred small circumference method
• Double pointed needles for the I-cord
• One stitch marker
• Measuring tape
