Knotted Mittens
Beautiful unbroken Celtic knots, reminiscent of ancient stonework, rise from the cuff to the fingertips of these heritage mittens. The Knotted Mittens are worked in the round from the cuff up and finished with Kitchener stitch to give your fingers a lot of wiggle room.
Difficulty Level: Intermediate
Finished Size 6¾ (7¼, 8¾)“ hand circumference and 12 (12¾, 13½)” long from bottom of cuff to tip. Mittens shown measure 7¼“.
Yarn Dale Garn Heilo (100% Norwegian wool; 109 yd 100 m/1¾ oz 50 g): #4263 prune, 3 (3, 4) skeins. Yarn distributed by Mango Moon.
Needles Sizes 2 (2.75 mm): set of double-pointed needles (dpn). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions Markers (m); cable needle (cn); stitch holder; tapestry needle.
Gauge 29 sts and 40 rnds = 4” in Rev st st; 34 (36, 40) sts of Hand chart at widest point = 3¼ (3½, 4)“ wide.
