There is also a Note that describes how to work a normal, ribbed brim with a long-tail cast on, if you’d rather not do the provisional cast on and turned hem.

Also, there is not longer a shift of the beginning of round before beginning the knots.

This is a cute little hemmed hat with decorative knots at the top corners. The pattern is written for adventurous beginners and has lots of pictures. There are two hem options included, and no hem sewing is required because of the provisional cast on. There will be a little grafting at the top; or, if you prefer, you can use a 3-needle bind off on the inside of the hat to close the top.
