Knowe
A cosy colourwork caplet or cowl with a ribbed rollneck, which you can choose to work bottom-up or top-down. In Scots, a knowe is a small hill - whose shape this design resembles. Six sizes.

Kate Davies Designs Schiehallion (100% wool: 70% Corriedale, 30% Cheviot; 110m/120yds per 50g skein)

22 sts and 30 rounds to 10cm / 4in over colourwork pattern and stockinette in the round using gauge-size needle. Use 4mm needle as a starting point for swatching.
Sizes
Caplet circumference at widest point: 111 (127.5, 144, 160.5, 172, 193.5) cm / 43¾ (50¼, 56¾, 63¼, 67¾, 76¼) in
Measure your body around the top of your arms and shoulders and select the next size up. Shown in the first size.
Pattern notes
This caplet (or cowl) is edged with rib at hem and neck, alternates plain and patterned sections, and features rounds of increases or decreases for a fit that tapers to the shoulders and upper body. You can choose to work the design bottom-up, or top-down.
