Koala
This little koala makes a delightful toy or gift for a child!
The written crochet pattern (in US terms) calls for cotton yarn in three colours (light grey, black, and white), and a 6.00 mm crochet hook.
Gauge is not terribly important for this pattern; the finished koala depicted in photos is approximately 15 cm in height. However, if using yarns of different weights with matching crochet hooks, the same pattern could be used to make koalas of various sizes (see last 3 photos for example of smaller koala).
Additional materials required are:
- darning needle
- pair of 8 mm safety eyes
- teddy filling
- 25 cm satin ribbon, approximately 5 mm in width
- matches
- thread to match ribbon
- sewing needle
NB: if concerned about the ‘safety’ of safety eyes (especially if the item will be played with by a baby, toddler, or young child), eyes can be embroidered with black yarn and darning needle.
