The Koala beanie is a quick fluffy knit with mohair and fingering yarn held together for a fluffy furry texture. The 1x1 ribbing provides added flexibility for growing head sizes.

NEEDLES
Gauge needle: Size 3.5mm (US 4) - 16”/40 cm circular needles for magic loop or DPNs. Brim: 3.25mm (US 3)Size - 16”/40 cm circular needle or DPN for the brim (or one size down from gauge needle).

GAUGE
In 1x1 ribbing: 25sts x 29 rows = 4 inches (10cm) using larger needles Note: Because of the stretch provided by the 1x1 ribbing, achieving an exact gauge is not crucial. Adjusted instructions for newborn and baby sizing are provided.

YARN
Yarn is held double for child-adult sizes and single for baby sizing. You can use 3+ strands of mohair only, or 1 strand of fingering + 1 (or 2) strands of mohair. Some alpaca blends (like Rowan tweed haze and brushed alpaca also offer a fuzzy texture on a fingering or DK weight yarn).
