Kojika
I love baby bonnets. They’re sweet, practical, and the perfect canvas for beautiful stitch patterns. KOJIKA is the Japanese word for fawn; sweet and delicate, it is a fitting name for this softly-detailed piece. My choice to use a fingering weight yarn references those classic baby knits of last century, the kind my Nana makes, which are almost always in a light-weight yarn. KOJIKA brings those pieces up-to-date with modern detailing.
SIZES
0-4 months: to fit 35-38cm
4-9 months: to fit 37-44cm
9-18 months: to fit 43-50cm
Older Toddler: to fit 49-55cm
I have used White Gum Wool 4 ply superfine merino for my samples. My testers all used either a 100% merino or wool yarn, or a yarn that is a blend of animal fibres but still wool or merino dominant. Any fingering weight yarn of this kind will work for this pattern.
Gauge: 27 sts/40 rows over 10cm on 3.25mm/US 3 needles in the dot/eyelet pattern indicated, worked flat. You may need to change needle size to obtain gauge.
This pattern has been professionally tech edited and test knitted.
