Koket
The beret shape is created with increases and decreases, but there are also sections where you can relax by knitting Stockinette Stitch. A beret is the chicest hat there is!

For a head circumference of approx.20–21 (21–23, 23–25)“ / 51–53 (53–58.5, 58.5–63.5) cm.
Recommended ease: 1.5” / 4 cm of negative ease at the brim (worn around the forehead).
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Brim Circumference (smallest point): 17 (18.25, 19.25)“ / 42.5 (45.5, 48) cm.
Circumference (widest point): 29.5 (33, 35.5)“ / 75 (85, 90) cm.

MATERIALS
Yarn: 1 skein of Ovis et Cetera Corriedale Mohair (50% corriedale, 50% mohair, 437 yds / 400 m – 100 g), colourway Charcoal.
The yarn is held double throughout the pattern. If you decide to use another yarn, you will need approx. 437 yds / 400 m of light fingering-weight yarn held double.
You can also use light fingering-weight yarn held together with brushed (silk) mohair: you will need approx. 175 (195, 230) yds / 160 (178, 210) m of light-fingering-weight yarn and 175 (195, 230) yds / 160 (178, 210) m of brushed (silk) mohair.
Alternatively, you can use approx. 274 yds / 250 m of heavier fingering or sport-weight yarn held single. Make sure to swatch for gauge and adapt pattern if necessary.
Needles: US 2 / 2.75 mm (for brim and start of beret) and US 2.5 / 3 mm (for body) 16”/ 40 cm circular needles. US 2.5 / 3 mm 32” / 80 cm circular needles or a set of DPNs (for crown and i-cord stalk).
Notions: Stitch markers.
GAUGE
30 sts x 36 rnds to 4”/ 10 cm on US 2.5 / 3 mm needles in Stockinette Stitch, after blocking.
NOTES
You want to obtain a nice, dense fabric that gives the beret some firmness. Thus, make sure to choose a yarn, which contains wool and not a 100% alpaca or mohair yarn. Rustic 100% natural yarns work best for this design. You can also wear the beret inside out with the Reverse Stockinette Stitch as the right side. Knit the beret and stalk normally in Stockinette Stitch as described below. After blocking, turn your beret inside out. Do not forget to turn the stalk as well, using a needle or pencil to pop it out.
CONSTRUCTION
This beret is worked seamlessly in the round from the brim to the crown and finished with a neat i-cord stalk.
