Notes From the Designer:
Königssee, a lake nestled amongst the Alps in Bavaria, is an extraordinary shade of aqua green. Visit on a sunny day, with the reflection of the blue skies and surrounding mountains, for a truly magnificent site. Nature at its finest. This poncho brings together all the shades of aqua, teal and emerald that can be seen there. By marling the yarns, the colors meld together, making it difficult to tell where one color starts and another stops.
Top down construction allows for adjustment of shoulder width and placement of the sleeves. Alternatively, eliminate the sleeves and continue working the a-line shaping, for a traditional poncho silhouette. The model is worked with 2 strands of sport weight held together, but could also be knit with a worsted weight yarn with similar gauge.

-
Slip stitches: On WS rows, with a purl stitch facing, slip the stitch as if to purl, wyif. On RS rows, with a knit stitch facing, slip the stitch as if to knit, with yarn in back. When followed by a DS, ALWAYS slip wyif.
-
To bring in a new color, work approximately 3-5 stitches with all 3 strands together, then drop the old color. This will not be noticeable and will eliminate the need for making knots.
-
All sizes will use nearly all of colors A and B. If you run short, simply change to the next color combination when necessary. There will be enough yardage in the remaining colors to make up the difference and complete the sweater.
-
For best fit, sleeves should begin just above the elbows.
-
Adjustments for length may be made just after dividing the sleeves from the body. To add length to the sweater, additional yarn may be required:
-
Size 1: Add skein of color C for up to 3 “ in add’l. length.
-
Size 2: Stated yardage will allow for an additional 3-3.5” in length. Add 1 skein of color C for up - to 5” beyond that.
-
Size 3: Stated yardage will allow for an additional 2” in length. Add 1 skein each of colors C - and D for up to 4” beyond that.
-
Sizes 4 & 5: Stated yardage will allow for an additional 2” in length. Add 1 skein each of colors D and E for up to 3.5” beyond that.
