Kookaburra Wrap
This classic yet simple lace pattern is a great introduction to lace knitting for an advanced beginner knitter. Pattern instructions are both written and charted, and you can easily modify the width and length of your piece to create a shawl, wrap, or scarf. Sample as shown used less than one skein of KFI Luxury Collection Kookaburra, color 106 Eternal Spring. Kookaburra is a loosely spun single ply wool/silk/linen blend with a slightly thick and thin texture. When substituting yarns, I would recommend a single ply fingering weight such as Debbie Bliss Fine Donegal to achieve a similar look and texture.
Supplies:
KFI Luxury Collection Kookaburra, one skein – or similar single ply fingering weight yarn.
Needles, US size 9. If you prefer straight needles, a 14” will be long enough, or knit back and forth on a 24” circular.
Stitch markers
Gauge & finished dimensions: In lace pattern, after blocking, 16 sts over 4 inches. Finished size 16 inches wide x 60 inches long, blocked. The lace pattern should be loose to allow for blocking to open up the stitches.
