Korallion
Reminiscent of dancing sea slugs, coastal surf and swaying sea grasses, the looping edges of Korallion flow in continuous waves
to create a distinctive border to this cool-weather accessory. As the
edges curl and layer, your inner siren will be protected from even
the wildest tempest.
Formed in a simple triangle shape, Korallion can be made into a stylish neck warmer or shawl. It is worked sideways and the edging is added as you go. This keeps things beautifully basic and allows you to manage your yarn so that you don’t run out and can use every last metre.
Techniques
Working flat, basic shaping.
Other Materials
2 Stitch Markers (or two pieces of scrap yarn in contrasting colours);
yarn needle, tape measure.
Gauge
Exact tension is not essential for this project. A hook and yarn
combination that yields a fabric of dc with a nice drape is all that is
required. As a guide, the sample pictured was made using a 4.5mm
hook using fingering weight yarn with a tension of 18dc to 10 cm
(before blocking.) Row gauge is not required as you work according to measurement only.
