The Korona Cowl is inspired by a Filipino All Saints Day and All Souls Day tradition of bringing flowers and wreaths to the cemetery to honor departed loved ones. My mom told me how they would bend a thick banana plant stem into a circle and add flowers to it to make “korona,” the Kapampangan word for “wreath.”

These are solemn holidays for prayer and remembrance, and it’s my hope that the rhythm of working up this cowl creates space for your own reflection.

This cowl is a versatile piece that can be worn simply around the neck, cinched up for warmth, or even pulled over the head like a hood.
