Koru Hat
The koru is a spiral shape based on the appearance of a new unfurling New Zealand silver fern frond. It is an symbol in Māori art, meaning new life, growth, strength and peace. The hat has 3 koru designs on it.
Four Sizes:
To fit a toddler size of 48 - 52cm/19 - 20.5 inches circumference.
To fit an older child size of 53 - 56cm/21 - 22 inches circumference.
To fit a small - medium adult of 58 - 60cm/23 - 23.5 inches circumference.
To fit a medium adults head of 59 - 61cm/23 - 24 inches circumference.
Suggested Needles:
3.25mm/US 3 circular needle for casting on & knitting rib.
4mm/US 6 circular needle for hat body.
4mm/US 6 DPNs for shaping the crown.
Techniques:
Knitting in the round, knit & purl stitches, decreasing, catching floats, weaving, 2 stranded knitting.
Notions:
Stitch marker, tapestry needle.
