“Koselig” is a Norwegian term for coziness, but it extends beyond the way English-speakers might use that term to encompass things that make you feel warm inside, that give you a comforting, homey feel.

This cup cozy will give you just that kind of koselig feeling, whether you’re making it, using it, or giving it as a gift. And while it protects your hand from too much heat, you’ll still enjoy a soft warmth that a stiff cardboard drink sleeve will never provide.

You’ll be delighted with knitting up this little project, too. In almost no time, you can turn 15 grams of leftover yarn into a great little hostess gift, teacher gift, or stocking stuffer. And if you’re wondering what to get one of those hard-to-figure-out teenagers, here you go!

Difficulty: Beginner. And if you’ve never worked cables before, this a good project to start with.
This pattern includes two files: one has instructions for working flat, and one for working in the round - so you can use whichever technique you prefer.

Yarn selection: You only need about 15 grams (around 30 yards) of aran-weight yarn - the yarn label should show a gauge of 18 stitches to 4”/ 10 cm in stockinette stitch.
The pattern looks great with solids but variegated yarn and gradients work well, too. Wool, acrylic, and fiber blends are all good choices.
