Intermediate to Advanced Intermediate Level
U.S. Terminology is used throughout.
壽 Kotobuki 寿 longevity
Kotobuki combines traditional filet crochet with triple crochet petals in a lacy, open pattern. The infinity scarf is intended to be wrapped around the neck twice. The wider version was designed to work through the color progression in a single ball of Freia Ombre Lace. The design works equally well with a single-colored yarn or a combination of laceweight leftovers.
The Moebius construction allows the colors to build from the center out, mirrored to the border.
Instructions for a modification for a narrower version are included along with two methods of establishing the Moebius twist. A single layer cowl can be made by starting with half the stated fsc sts.
This is an Intermediate to Advanced Intermediate Level project due to the set-up rounds. This project is worked in laceweight yarn and begins with just over 400 foundation single crochet stitches. The first two rounds require patience and attention to detail. If you are interested in a fingering weight Moebius cowl that doesn’t begin with fsc, take a look at Kaoru.
Required Skills
Ability to work foundation single crochet(fsc)
Ability to manage and join a long chain of fsc without twisting
Cluster stitches
Filet crochet
Working in the round

Complete written instructions included.
The pattern is fully charted, but reading the instructions for Rnds 1-2 will provide guidance on the set-up.
If using the Alternative start which allows for 1/2 row to be worked flat before joining to work in the round, you will need to use written instructions for Row/Rnds 1-2.
