This pattern is an easy, beginner-friendly pattern. It is similar to my other patterns for the kueh lapis sagu amigurumi and kueh salat amigurumi.

The amigurumi consists of 2 parts. The 1st part is the main body and is first worked in rows, and then in rounds. The 2nd part is the bottom and is worked in rows. The 2 parts are then stitched together.

The finished appearance of the amigurumi can differ depending on the material used to stuff it. For a more structured, straighter appearance, it is best to use foam or sponge to stuff the work. For a squishy, chubbier look, use poly fibrefill.

The amigurumi measures around 5.7cm long by 2.5cm wide by 4cm high, but the finished size can vary depending on hook size, yarn weight and tension.

This amigurumi was inspired by the kueh cendol, an original steamed confection created by Singaporean eatery HarriAnn’s Nonya Table. The kueh confection itself was inspired by cendol (also spelt as chendol), a popular local dessert made of shaved ice, coconut milk, gula melaka (palm sugar) and green jelly. This fragrant chilled dessert is a beloved classic that can be found all over Southeast Asia.
