“THIS DESIGN was inspired by the shadow of a handrail which was cast on a long, sweeping staircase,” says Emma Vining. “The cardigan has a structured stitch pattern panel of mirror-imaged
shadows on either side of the front bands and on the centre back. The stitch pattern combines cables, rib and garter stitch to draw a series of horizontal, vertical and diagonal lines representing the steps, handrail and shadows.” Her cardigan is knitted in Cascade’s ever-popular 220 Aran yarn, which comes in a huge choice of colours.
