Kvennavagn
Kvennavagn mittens take their name from the Norse appellation for the constellation Ursa Minor. Kvennavagn means “woman’s chariot” as opposed to Karlsvagn, the “man’s chariot,” Ursa Major.
These mittens feature a motif found in Selbu but that is rarely used today. While the colours in the sample were inspired by the stars, perhaps you’d rather knit them in white and black, and turn the stars into snowflakes?
The yardage breakdown is as follows:
110 m / 120 yards sport weight yarn in main colour
100 m / 109 yards sport weight yarn in contrast colour

I’m experimenting this year with a pay-what-you-will model. If you have made this pattern and would like to show your appreciation, please consider buying me some virtual coffee! Thanks for your support!
