I got a new Kindle Paperwhite and immediately wanted something to keep it safe from occasional bumps and nicks as it gets banged around inside my purse. I knit a thick inner sleeve for cushion, but it didn’t look as fancy as I would like. Once my outer-sleeve was knit, I noticed how difficult it was to put the kindle in the sleeve. I have theses plastic canvas sheets made for needle art, or cross stitching, and once I placed it in my knitting it made a world of difference. You can still throw this cover into the washing machine if it ever gets dingy or if you accidentally sit it in the one place on the entire counter that has a glob of peanut butter that you didn’t notice. Even with the plastic sheet, you can throw this cover into the washing machine with no problems.

This is knit for a Kindle Paperwhite, but once you get gauge, you can change it by adding a few stitches or taking them out to make it fit other devices.

I used a little less than 100 yards per color of yarn that I chose.

The plastic sheet I used was bought from Hobby Lobby, but you can put anything in to make it a little more stable as long as it is durable enough to wash. I wouldn’t recommend cardboard since it would break down once it was wet.

I take my Kindle everywhere and now it feels safe and looks great! Happy Knitting!
