I think we are all in the need of a short escape from our various covid restrictions, right? I know that I certainly am! What better way to escape than by letting our imaginations drift off to an exotic location with the sound of waves and the sun warming our thoughts. I’ve always wanted to visit Greece and have daydreamed about going there often. During my latest “get away” I dreamed up Kýma, which is Greek for “wave”. Kýma is a slightly asymmetrical triangle shawl whose mosaic patterns are reminiscent to both the sea and the friezes found on ancient Greek pottery which I love.

Materials:

Yarn: Main color 437 yards (1 skein) Cascade Heritage solids fingering weight
Contrasting color 437 yards (1 skein) Cascade Heritage solids fingering weight
Note: I used one skein of each color for my shawl. If your gauge is off you may need more than one skein of each color.

Gauge:26 sts x 35r = 4 in (10 cm) stockinette

Needles: 3.5mm (US 4) needles for shawl and 4mm (US 6) for casting off (optional)

Notions: 1 stitch marker and needle for weaving in ends
