Kynance Cove Shawl
The Kynance Cove Shawl is a crescent shaped shawl, worked flat from the top down. It begins with an I-cord tab cast on with stitches increased each end, every row. It also has additional increase rows (where you will increase across the whole row) to help insure a smooth crescent shape.
Stockinette sections alternate with lace to create a balance between rest and exhilaration.
The lace, a variation on Old Shale, pulls the knitting into gentle waves.
Although three colours are used, only one colour is worked per row.
The instructions for all sections are written, but there are also charts for the lace sections.

3.5mm (US 4)
I suggest a circular needle with a cable of 80cm or 100cm (32 inch or 40 inch) to accommodate the finished size.
If it is an option for you, you may wish to start with a shorter cable, and increase the cable length as the shawl grows
