Kynnyav Mittens
These fingerless mittens are an ideal wardrobe staple; keeping your hands warm and snug whilst at the same time allowing you to get on with your day. A double cuff and slightly longer rib on the wrist all ensure that you’ll be nice and toasty whatever you are doing.
Kynnyav is the Cornish word for autumn. These mittens are perfect for slipping on as the days get shorter and the weather turns colder. I hope you enjoy making them and wearing them for years to come x
Yarn
4 ply yarn of your choice in two colours.
Colour A:
100 grams
Colour B:
50 grams
The sample uses Drops Nord in light beige mix (colour A) and rust mix (colour B) (50g = approx. 170m / 186y).
(Please note that yardage may vary depending on yarn used, gauge variations or modifications).
Gauge
40 sts & 44 rows = 4”/10 cm (measured over main pattern, knitted in the round and after blocking).
This gauge was achieved using size 2.25mm needles but you may need to size up or down to achieve the desired gauge.
Needles and notions
The pattern uses 2.25mm needles throughout. You can use your preferred needles for working in the round (DPN, magic loop or 25 cm circular knitting needle). Please note if you prefer to use small circumference circulars you will still need to use Magic Loop or DPNs for the thumb.
These needle sizes are for guidance only - use the needle size you need to achieve gauge.
Stitch markers.
Stitch holders or waste yarn for holding stitches.
Tapestry needle.
