Kyvannet
Kyvannet is a beautifully intricate double-knit headband that allows you to transform your style with the changing seasons while staying warm throughout the year.
The pattern is elaborate enough to interest the seasoned knitter, while sporting a clean symmetry that will put beginner double knitters at ease. I hope it will bring some of the magic of Kyvannet into your life.
The Story of Kyvannet
Kyvannet (pronounced shee-vaneh) is a beautiful lake near my home, in the forests surrounding the Norwegian city of Trondheim. I love seeing it change throughout the seasons; my favourite place to swim in summer and ice-skate in winter. Its name originates in the ancient Norse word Tjod meaning ‘people’ - the people’s lake.
Alternate accounts say that the original name Tÿv-Vandet referred to it as a double lake - since Kyvatnet used to be two smaller ponds that flowed into each other over the ages. The pattern reveals the infinity shape this history created.
The 7-Page PDF Pattern Includes:
♥ Detailed instructions on how to use the double knitting technique and read the colourwork charts
♥ Tips and tricks for both beginners and experienced double knitters
♥ 3 Sizes and an option to customise for larger/smaller sizes so you can share lovely gifts with all your family and friends
This pattern has been test-knit and designed professionally.
Note on Yarn: Kyvannet is a great stash-buster. You will need around 15-30 grams (0.5-1 ounces) of each colour. I used Garnstudio’s Drops Alpaca, which provided a stretch ratio of 10:11 when worn. I recommend you use Sport-weight yarn as well - check what feels nicest on your ears and allows you to achieve the recommended gauge.
