Inspiration:
Once again, the fiber itself inspired me to create this airy, breezy and feminine shawl.
The pinks are gentle, subtle and so soothing. I am embracing home spun fiber in 2021, thus I created this gradient single myself. Starting a dyeing project for me, is to create a beautiful and appealing colour first. Way of spinning the fiber is second. Knitted design comes last. I am loving this creative process; each step feeds my soul with pure joy.

I love lace, but I do not always find it appealing to my modern, architecturally driven eye. Lace knitting can be seen as traditional, and if that’s what you love, of course that’s fantastic.
I am trying to squash that traditional stereotype with my hooliganing ways.
Flow, drape, and visual illusion interest in this lace pattern add to the modern feel. It is fun and super easy to remember.

La Brisa is Spanish means breeze and is also a feminine noun. I thought it appropriate for this knit.

I am including 2 different shapes of the shawl in this pattern.

Finished (blocked)measurements: Varies/Blocking affects size.

My shawl 1: 100cm (39in) long, 60 cm (24in) wide measured while blocking.
My shawl 2: 100cm(39 in) long, 120 cm (47in) wide measured while blocking.

Gauge: not crucial about 10 sts/20 rows in a 10 cm (4in) swatch, knitted in lace pattern on size 8 US (5mm) needles
General rule, whatever the recommended needles size for a particular yarn, double it for this lace pattern. Blocking affects gauge.

Yarn: any fingering weight yarn 100 g skein. Approx. 320-450m (350-500yards)
Shawl 1: I used 350 m in sport/fingering home spun, home dyed
Shawl 2: I used 450m in Fingering/lace home spun, home dyed

Notions:
• Size 8 US (5mm) needles,
• 3 markers, one different color marker to indicate right side, optional 10 additional markers to denote each pattern repeat,
• Blocking mats,
• Blocking wires and pins.

Aggressively blocking this lace shawl is crucial.

Skills required:
• Reading chart is recommended, however written instructions are provided for chart A,
• Yarn overs, knit, purl stitches,
• Increasing on right side and wrong side if work,
• Wet, aggressive blocking.

Notes about construction:
Knitted flat, in one piece, starting with the increases.
