The lace-pattern used for this sweater reminds me of waves or sea-shells (la coquille - meaning “the seashell”). As I find this lace-pattern so lovely (and FUN to work) I wanted to use it again.

Construction
The basic shape is very wearable: straight lines and room for comfort. All edges are rolled edges.
The lower body is worked bottom-up and in-the-round to underarms. Upper front and back are worked flat in separate pieces. Sleeves are worked bottom-up and in-the-round.
Finishing work is limited to setting in sleeves (seamed from WS).
Shoulders are worked together from WS using the 3-needle bind-off method. Neckline is worked from picked-up and live sts.

1 – 2 years: finished chest 52.5 cm/20.5” / 2 – 4 years: finished chest 59 cm/23” / 4 – 6 years: finished chest 62.5 cm/24.5” / 6 – 8 years: finished chest 67.5 cm/26.5” / 8 – 10 years: finished chest 71 cm/28” / 10 -12 years: finished chest 77.5 cm/30.5”

Materials
Yarn: I used Sandnes Garn “Alpakka” to work the pullover. This DK weight yarn comes in balls of 50 gr/ 1.76oz and 110 m/120 yards. You will need approximately 300/350/450/550/650/750 meter (2/4/5/5/6/7 balls) of this specific yarn to work the pullover. If you substitute for another quality I recommend a similar weight that knits up to gauge, and gives a beautiful drape and distinct stitch-definition.
There are many yarns working up to 24 sts! This sweater would also be lovely in merino, cotton, blended, variegated…… Needles: A circular needle 3 mm/US2.5 for the lower body, 40 cm/16” long (for the smallest size) – to 60 cm/24” long (from the second to the largest size). A pair of straight needles or a circular needle, size 3mm/US2.5, for the upper back and upper front.
A circular needle with a soft wire or a set of dpns, size 3mm/US2.5 for the sleeves. Needle size is a suggestion. Make a swatch to determine which needle size you need to obtain gauge. Notions: separate holders for holding the sts of the back, and fronts shoulders. 4 removable stitch-markers. Blunt tapestry needle.

Gauge
24 sts and 30-32 rounds = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4”, in stockinette and in lace.

The lace-pattern is both written out round-by-round and charted.
Measurements are given in cm’s as well as in inches.
