La Esperanza where hope is waiting beyond the gate.

La Esperanza is a crescent shaped shawl that is a perfect size and shape for either wearing over the shoulders or draped around the neck like a scarf. A stockinette body with a medium sized lace edging creates a flirty look that can move from casual to evening easily.

The shawl is started with a variation of the tab start (thank you Tiziana then worked in stockinette stitch to the edging and border. By working more or less rows of stockinette or increasing/decreasing the stitches at cast on can would both work for changing the size of the shawl. For a more dainty elegant look work with a heavy lace yarn!

Gradient yarns are perfect for this design but single color will work also.

Materials needed:
1 skein - 438 yards of fingering weight yarn. Heavenly Fiber Stardust Sock was used for the sample.

about 400 yards of heavy lace weight yarn.
size 4.0 (size 6 US) needles
259 size 6/0 seed beads more beads may be added if heavy beading is desired. Anticipate around 700 beads for heavy beading.
darning needle for sewing in ends
stitch markers may be desired for the lace sections.

Gauge: 16 stockinette rows and 9 stitches in stockinette after blocking.

Knit, purl, 3 from 3 stitch, 3 from 2 stitch, simple cable stitch, kfb, k2tog, make Back (or make right), make Front (or make left), Yarn over
