La Fleur Doily Bag
This feminine lace bag will surely be a conversation piece everywhere you go. Just a warning though—your friends may request one for themselves! It looks more difficult than it really is and is a fun project. If you prefer a larger bag, use a worsted-weight yarn and a larger hook; for a smaller bag, try a thinner yarn or thread and a smaller hook.
This bag is made from one large doily and is quite fun and simple to make. I would consider it an “easy” skill level. I doubled the lining so the right side would show not only on the inside but also show through the lace on the front. I put a stiff peltex between the 2 layers of fabric before sewing together.
Another easier option would be to find a quilt fabric that is a different print on each side. You can find this at JoAnns or Hancock Fabrics. This way, it’s only 1 layer and you don’t have to use the peltex stabilizer, because the quilt fabric would give it enough structure. I give instructions on how to add pockets to the inside.
The strap is made and then woven through the top edges and gathered, as in photo. Instead of working the rose in the round, I made it easier by working 1 long strip and then rolling it up to form a rose.
Note: each ball/skein of the yarn I used contains 137 yds , so that makes around 411 yrds total. (Since you need 3 balls)
