Inspired by the mystery and drama of a 16th century Masquerade Ball, La Mascarada combines mosaic and lace techniques to create a beautiful and elegant yoke panel. The sweater is worked seamlessly and in the round from the top down. Short rows are added to shape the neckline and from then the mosaic pattern is introduced followed by the lace design. The sleeves and body are separated and worked top to bottom. The cuff is worked in the same mosaic pattern as the yoke.

The Mosaic and Lace designs are straightforward, with written and charted instructions provided for the Lace design. You only knit with one colour at a time. There is a link to a YouTube video tutorial for Rounds 3, 4 and 6 of the Mosaic Pattern.

The body and sleeves can be any length and the instructions show where the length can be added.

Dimensions

This sweater is intended to be worn with 1cm/1/3” positive ease. To pick the best size, add your desired ease to your bust size and pick the finished bust circumference closest to that number.

Gauge

Some testers found their gauge differed over the various sections. Be sure to check each gauge section.

Stockinette Gauge - 25sts and 35 rows over 4”/10cm measured over stockinette stitch in the round using the Main Fabric Needles and blocked.

Mosaic Gauge - 26sts over 4”/10cm measured over Rnd 6 of the Mosaic Pattern in the round using the Main Fabric Needles and blocked.
- length of 2cm/3/4” over Rnds 1-10 of the Mosaic Pattern in the round using the Main Fabric Needles and blocked.

Lace Gauge - the length is 5.5cm in the narrowest part and 6cm in the widest part, in the round using the Main Fabric Needles and blocked
