Il pizzicarolo, in romanesco, è la persona e, per estensione, il negozio, dove si comprano pane, latte, uova, prosciutti, formaggi, scatolame e altri beni di prima necessità; una specie di piccolo emporio, insomma. Il modello si chiama così perché è una borsa per la spesa e per via della canzone popolare dallo stesso nome.

La pizzicarola è un modello che si lavora in un pezzo unico, in tondo, partendo dal fondo della borsa. Al termine del lavoro, dovrete solo nascondere le codine. I manici anche sono lavorati come un unico cordoncino, i cui margini andranno cuciti l’uno all’altro.

Per eseguire il modello bisogna saper lavorare in tondo e conoscere i seguenti punti: catenella (cat), maglia alta (ma), maglia bassa in costa dietro (mb cd), maglia bassa in rilievo sul davanti (mbrdav - opzionale), maglia bassissima (mbss).
