Lace Cable Baby Cardigan
This cute little baby cardigan is knitted in the traditional way - Back, Left Front, Right Front and Sleeves. Then joined together, and the Neckband added.
This is not the way I write most of my patterns - usually I design them to be all-in-one as far as possible to minimize the seaming.
However, this little cardi is worth the effort in my opinion!
I have been asked to share this pattern many times. And I did try to write an all-in-one version, but it got too complicated!
You can use DK or 4ply yarn for this design -
Knitted in DK it fits a baby of around 12 months of age (22” chest) ~~~ but please note 1 x 100g ball of (UK) DK acrylic yarn might not be enough !
Knitted in 4ply and 3.25mm needles it fits a baby of around 3 - 6 months (18” chest)
Knitted in 4ply and 3.5mm needles it fits a baby of around 6 - 9 months (19.5” chest)
The borders can be worked in rib or garter stitch - you choose.
However, the lacy cable requires a bit of concentration, so I don’t really recommend this pattern for a beginner knitter.
If you do knit this, it is sure to be much admired! It is a very pretty little cardigan. Happy knitting.
