Lace Covered Jars
This is a pattern to make a lace look crocheted cover for an old jam jar. These are brilliant to upcycle them as flower vases or tealight lanterns. Used as vases, they have a charming simple, country cottage style and when used with candles, the lace creates a really lovely dappled light which dances around on the table, really sweet.
The pattern is written in a continuous bottom up design without any joining seems. We start with a ring then bring the shape out to fit around the jar and then up the sides, you can add more rows if your jar is taller than the average. There is a point in the pattern where we check the size works for the jar size you have and ideas to reduce or increase the size if you need to.
This pattern is probably the quickest project in my collection, you can easily whip up 2 or 3 in an evening.
Start storing your old jars up to make a beautiful table arrangement for your next garden party!
These make wonderful decorations for your wedding too (my own wedding was when I first made them)
