How sweet and young this looks! It’s almost a mini-pinafore, part of a school tunic, guileless and fresh. As a new take on a vest, it’s radical in a very traditional way, with enormous layering possibilities. And more than most sleeveless tops, it almost gives the impression of a kind of jacket, with the shoulders and back neck tailored close to the body. The buttonbands are worked of a piece with the fronts in a 1x1 rib, so there’s that much less finishing to do at the end-- even the knitting is freer of fuss than usual.
