A long, romantic shawl featuring a soft lace motif at each end, the Lace Tipped Shawl is light but also holds warmth so it can be worn in spring, summer, or fall. Using three colours, each worked in a different stitch pattern, the design will hold your interest throughout as you will always be looking forward to the next section. Worked from end to end with a bias construction narrowing to a point at each end, you will only need to cast on and bind off two stitches so you can concentrate on the part you love – the knitting.

Yarn
Fingering weight yarn in MC (439 yards/400 metres), CC1 (275 yards/250 metres), and CC2 (439 yards/400 metres). I used 1 skein each of Purl Soho’s Linen Quill (50% fine highland wool, 35% alpaca, 15% linen, 439 yards/400 metres per skein) in Lavender Opal (MC), Trout Brown (CC1), and Oatmeal Gray (CC2).

Note: this pattern uses all of the MC and CC2 yarn with very little leftover. To avoid running out of yarn, I recommend having extra yarn just in case or ensuring your gauge is no bigger than recommended.

Needles
US 5 (3.75 mm) circular or straight needles

Finished measurements
92” long and 14” wide

Both written and charted instructions are included, and pattern has been tech edited and test knitted.
