Lace-Up Scarf, Shawl, and Wrap
Pattern description from Alterknits: ‘’This two-part piece can be worn three different ways. The 22-inch-wide shawl can be worn on its own; the 7-inch-wide scarf can be worn on its own; or the two pieces can be laced together with ribbon to create a more voluptuous wrap. Knitted with a strand of mohair-silk yarn and a strand of alpaca-silk yarn, this is a fluffy, soft, and luxurious piece.“
Finished Measurements: Shawl: 22” x 78” Scarf: 7” x 78”
Yarn:
- Rowan Kid Silk Haze (70% mohair, 30% silk; 229 yards / 25 grams): 11 (4) balls. Shown in #590 pearl (A).
- Blue Sky Alpaca’s Alpaca and Silk (50% alpaca, 50% silk; 146 yards/50 grams): 16 (6) balls. Shown in #10 ecru (B).
Needles: One set straight needles size US 10 (6 mm). Change needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions: Two yarn needles, 4.5 yards of 2/5”-wide silk ribbon, for lacing together scarf and shawl.
Note from Alterknits: “To create smooth edges on garment pieces, work edge (selvage) stitches throughout pattern, as follows: Slip the first st knitwise on every row, and knit the last st.
Note: I knitted both the scarf and shawl with the recommended yarns listed in the pattern. Due to the errata, I found that I needed to double the number of Rowan Kidsilk Haze skeins to complete this project. The pattern says 5, I needed 11. Happy to help with any questions. - rrredhead
