Inspired by Japanese wisterias in full bloom, the Laceleaf pullover features delicate latticework on the yoke. Knit in Peerie, a 4-ply Merino wool yarn, the lace juxtaposes crisply against stockinette stitch in this lightweight seamless sweater. Dainty yet contemporary, Laceleaf is a versatile piece for seasonal transitions and a satisfying knit.
Construction
The body and sleeves are worked circularly from the bottom up, then joined to work the yoke in one piece.
Yarn
- 6 (7, 7, 8, 9, 11) skeins of Brooklyn Tweed Peerie (100% American Merino Wool; 210 yards/50 grams)
- Note: The third and fourth sizes use all, or nearly all, 7 and 8 skeins, respectively. You may wish to consider purchasing an extra skein due to variations in individual work.
- Photographed in color Palazzo
Yardage
- 1220 (1330, 1470, 1670, 1850, 2280) total yards of fingering weight wool yarn
Gauge
- 25 stitches & 40 rounds = 4” in stockinette stitch with Size A needle(s), after blocking
- 25 stitches & 40 rounds = 4” in Yoke Chart pattern with Size B needle(s), after blocking
Note: Be sure to swatch both stitch patterns to ensure proper sizing. Correct length of the one-piece yoke is dependent upon achieving the stated round gauge.
Needles
Size A (for Main Fabric)
- One each 16”, 24” and 32” circular needles and one set of double-pointed needles (DPNs)* in size needed to obtain gauge listed
- Suggested Size: 3.5 mm (US 4)
Size B (for Yoke Chart and Ribbing)
- One each 16”, 24”, and 32” circular needles and one set of DPNs*, in size needed to obtain gauge listed
- Suggested Size: 3.25 mm (US 3)
Due to significant variance among knitters, your Yoke Chart fabric should be swatched and wet-blocked prior to knitting your sweater to determine whether this needle size should be larger, smaller or equal to Size A.
Size C (optional for Tubular Cast On)
- One 16” circular needle, one size smaller than Size B
- Suggested Size: 3 mm (US 2.5)
Note: If you have adjusted the needle size to obtain the correct gauge, it may or may not be necessary to make a matching adjustment to the needle size used for Tubular Cast On due to variance in individual work. You may wish to test your chosen cast-on method on your swatch.
*32” circular needle can be used instead of DPNs if using the Magic Loop method for working small circumferences in the round (e.g. sleeves).
