These socks are worked from toe to cuff, on 2 circular needles. The advantage of knitting socks from toe-up is that you can try them on while you knit, so you can be sure of an exact fit. The pattern used for these socks is a simple lace pattern. When you learn the basics, you can replace it with any other pattern you choose to make new socks with different patterns.

In this class Nazanin (Nazee) S. Fard will help you understand the basics. To take this class you should be comfortable to work k2tog, and ssk. If you need to learn or refresh your memory on how to do these stitches, our Knitting Library is just one click away.

For the Cast-on, in addition to describing it with text and photos, there is also a video clip (audio/video) so you can see and hear how it is done in action. Instructions for knitting on two circular needles are also available in text, photos, and a video clip. The socks have short row heels. Nazee will teach the Japanese short row technique with two video clips which creates a clean look with minimal holes. The bind-off for these socks is stretchy so the cuff would not be too tight. In addition to describing this special technique with text and photos, it is also shown in a video clip.

This class which is very rich in video clips has two lessons. In lesson one, we will learn to cast-on and shape the toe by increasing to the size of the ball of foot then knit the foot. In lesson two, we will work the heel using the short row technique, and then knit the cuff and finish with a beautiful stretchy bind-off.

THIS IS AN ONLINE CLASS, NOT JUST A PATTERN.
