I love simple diamond lace. It’s easily repeatable, hides mistakes, and looks so so sophisticated!

This lacy poncho was designed for my mother who is all about fancy, but sometimes just wants to be casual. It has a fancy lacy bit in the front with a garter edge and collar, and a casual garter stitch back with a lacy bit edge. Totally reversible and so super soft! The pattern is worked in a garter stitch so LESS PURLING! Hooray!

The garter side of the poncho is worked in US #6 so comes along quite quickly.

You will need a darning needle, stitch markers, snips, and a ruler.

Because this is made with a cashmere blend it is seamed together with a mattress stitch at the shoulders, and the edging and collar is picked up to create a faux seam. The seaming is important to prevent drop of the garment in the long run, and to help with the fall of the fabric.

You can work this pattern on any size yarn or needle you want. Just keep in mind the lace pattern is a repeat of 29 sts.
