LACY “RACHAEL” CLOCHE, BEADED LACY CAP or SNOOD
© Terrice C. Kennedy, March 22, 2017
{To use this as a Snood, gather your hair into the cap at the back of your head, then use bobby pins to fasten it to each side of your head just behind your ears.}
Skill level: Easy - Intermediate
Instructions are written in US terms.
Materials:
Size 10 crochet thread. (Feel free to use more than one color.)
Size 3 steel hook
Needle for weaving in ends.
A stitch marker may be helpful to delineate rounds
.
Dritz Fray Check or something similar: Recommended to keep small size thread ends from working their way out after being trimmed.
Optional: Size ‘E’ (6/0) Glass beads and a size 10 steel hook if you’d like to add beads to your cap/snood. This pattern calls for a minimum of 40 beads or a maximum of 56 beads. Once you get the hang of adding beads in Round 5, you are free to add beads much more often and to more rounds than I have included in the instructions.
Finished Size: 6 ½” H x 21” Circumference
Check Your Gauge: 2 ½” Diameter through Round 4 without stretching. {Note: I tend to work thread rather tightly. If your diameter is larger than 2 ½ “, you work more loosely than I do and should restart your cap with a smaller size hook.)
For a larger size cap, use size 1 steel hook and size 3 or 5 thread.
For a smaller size cap, use size 5 or 6 steel hook and size 20 thread.
This cap is worked in rounds, from the top down, with the RS always facing. No turns.
