The inspiration for the Ladders in Lace Cowl design was from the German stitch dictionary Omas Strickgeheimnisse. Translated as Grandma’s Knitting Secrets, the book is a treasure for knitters looking for unusual and challenging lace patterns.

The beginning and ending borders of the cowl are worked in a 2 by 2 ribbing, and the main patterning uses the same ribbing on a diagonal, with diagonal lace worked in knits and purls. The fabric is reversible so when twisted and doubled around the neck it looks great no matter what side is showing.
