I think many ladies enjoy sporting a fashionable wide brimmed hat, especially with an eye catching hat band! In this pattern, you knit your own wired ribbon hat band, using the yarn of your choice and 28 gauge jewelry wire.

The hat is knit in-the-round with kitchen cotton yarn, the type used to make dish cloths and towels. It makes a sturdy, comfortable hat!

The body is knit in an easy pattern I call “Twisted Trails.” The knit stitches on the brim are twisted, which produce a decorative effect, plus a tighter knit for a more stable brim.

The pattern includes instructions on how to attach the hat brim and jewelry wires with a round of single crochet. Of course, if you prefer a floppy brimmed hat, don’t feel obligated to attach the hat brim wire.
