Lady Augusta Hooded Cloak
Every young lady of fashion needs a cloak to keep her warm whilst she is out riding or visiting friends.
This cloak is knit from the top down in one piece, beginning at the center front of the hood and increasing down to the hem. An I-cord drawstring is threaded through a row of eyelets to form the hood and tie.
This pattern includes instructions for two variations.
View A features a fingertip-length cloak with contrasting garter stitch edge trim. It requires 210 yd (192 m) of fingering/4 ply/Super Fine yarn for the main color and 100 yd (92 m) of lace/2 ply yarn (held double) for the contrast edging.
View B features an ankle-length cloak with ruffled trim, a moss stitch hem, and a smocked stitch panel at center back. A photo tutorial demonstrating the smocked stitch is included. It requires 595 yd (480 m) of fingering/4 ply/Super Fine yarn.
The piece is worked flat, but a 24-inch (60 cm) circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches. View B also requires a cable needle.
